How Good Design Feels

When my boys were young enough to still enjoy being with Mom, we three would crawl into “Big bed” for story time.  It was a magical time reading with my boys. For us, the books had rhythm and song that made you raise your voice and sing to the new-jumbled words that jumped off the page. They brought out language that we didn’t know we had.   

The words in the stories brought out our imperfections, our humanity, our fears and our hopes. And the experience brought this family together.  

Fast forward to my current labor of Love, Finn & Sparrow, I hope to create those same feelings of joy and magic, wonder, whimsy, family and Love through home design. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re approachable. We’re flexible. It’s the relationships that matter most in feeling good design.  

I get that same feeling when I help a client fall in Love with their space -  that place that is sanctuary for them - whether it's the first time, the second time, a part-time or full-time space. It’s personal. The medium is color and texture, patina and pattern, form and function, consistency and flow. All creating an authentic and beautiful environment that is custom for each client, each family member.

My Style

The nuance of texture, color, light, form, and the hunt for the perfect object, new and old, has always excited me!  I moved often as a child and grew up in 8 states. This experience educated me early in the psychological impact that design has on our emotions, decisions, productivity and well-being. I believe how you design and dress your home can help you make your dreams come true.  

I've had the good fortune of a full career in Marketing at Target Corporation where I was an Art Director for home brands and an Operations Manager among other roles. That same experience and passion led to a Professional Home Staging certification in 2018 when Finn & Sparrow was born.  

Whether a consultation to plan and prioritize to sell, update, build or downsize; Staging to entice buyers so you can move to your next nest, or reimagining your existing space or new build to reflect your passions and dreams – I want to help you Make your Home Sing for You. 

Based in Eden Prairie, Finn & Sparrow serves the Twin Cities. Our E-Design services provide remote and online guidance for clients near and far and to meet client safety wants and needs.
